Tesla model S and X - Ultra Red Paint

Tesla has recently updated its Model S and Model X vehicles with a few minor updates. It happens just a few days after the company announced a round of price reductions. These updates include a new paint color, improved brake pads for high-performance models, and a newly designed glass roof.

New Ultra Red Paint

The most noticeable change to the Model S and Model X is the addition of a new paint color called Ultra Red. This paint option costs $3,000, making it the most expensive option. Ultra Red replaces the $2,000 Red Multi-Coat option that is still available on the Model 3 and Model Y.

The new red paint adds a bold and striking look to the Model S and Model X, making them stand out even more on the road. While it may not be for everyone, for those who want a truly unique vehicle, the Ultra Red option is a great choice.

Newly Designed Glass Roof

In addition to the new paint color, the Model S and Model X also received a newly designed glass roof. This roof is said to weigh less than the previous one, which could help lower the center of gravity of the vehicles and improve handling.

One concern some people may have with the new glass roof is that it allows five times more light into the cabin. However, Tesla claims that the roof provides the same amount of UV protection as the previous one, so passengers should still be protected from harmful rays.

Improved Brake Pads

For those who opt for the high-performance Plaid variants of the Model S and Model X, Tesla has improved the brake pads. The new pads offer a higher thermal capacity than the previous ones, which should help improve stopping power and performance.

While the updates only affect the brake pads, it’s still a welcome improvement for those who have criticized the stock brakes on the Model S Plaid. However, it’s worth noting that Tesla has yet to introduce the track-capable carbon-ceramic brake option that was promised.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the updates to the Tesla Model S and Model X are relatively minor. However, they add some nice touches to the vehicles. The new Ultra Red paint option adds a bold look to the vehicles, while the newly designed glass roof and improved brake pads should improve performance and safety.

If you are a current owner would you consider upgrading? But, these new additions are surely worth considering, if you are planning to purchase a new Model S or Model X.
